I'm honored to share my new essay on @next_avenue I'm honored to share my new essay on @next_avenue -- today's Editor's Pick! -- about what I have come to call my "other third trimester." As I celebrate having a college grad (!) and run around sporting my natural gray hair, it's hard not to ponder what aging means.

Link in bio or at
https://www.nextavenue.org/the-other-third-trimester/

Here's a short quote: "Coming to terms with aging is like wrestling a bear. You know you cannot win, no matter your skills or precautions. In the early years, there are moments of triumph when someone assumes that you're younger than you are, followed by gradually more frequent moments of denial: "I still look good," segueing slowly into self-flagellation: "Stop fooling yourself," until, finally, those rare moments of graceful acceptance. I'm still waiting."

Please read, share, and let me know your thoughts!

Gritty, honest, unflinching #LiteraryFiction -- In Gritty, honest, unflinching #LiteraryFiction -- In TELL ME ONE THING by @kerri.schlottman photographer Quinn and young Lulu only meet for a moment. But the photograph that Quinn captures, called "Lulu & the Trucker," marks both women for life. Their paths diverge in remarkable, often heart-wrenching ways--one toward artistic success and the other toward tremendous struggle. But neither escapes unscathed. Gritty and unflinching, TELL ME ONE THING examines poverty, privilege, and the consequence of a moment captured and defined as art.
